Life's not a race...

Life's not a race...

Life is not about pace...
Neither is it a race...
Actually it's just God's grace...
That we occupy our space...
Aren't we all human?
Yet some discriminate...
With judgmental eyes,
they alienate...
'I am being good to you'
Some say...
Behind one's back
Others flay...
Some flaunt wealth...
Some wield power's might...
Some thrive on beauty...
Some seek honour's height...
Yet diverse in our paths
All of us stand...
Like pawns on a chessboard
Guided by the hand...
Our status maybe  high
or medium or low...
But in the end
To the same box
We all will go...
Where distinctions fade
And the doors just close...
So while in this world
Let's free our minds
And embrace true humanity
Pushing differences behind...
For we are humans
Not in a race's chase...
Lest we miss the stars
Lost in life's haze..

Boarded, ready to take off...

Boarded, ready to take off...

This life of mine, a runway wide,
Waiting for that moment to soar,
Or gently touch down with pride.

Sometimes, on a crash landing
Emergency exits opening wide
Or rising from the debris,
Parachuting on a new ride

Blown by winds of fate,
Or dashing through clouds of doubt,
I reach for distant horizons,
Leaving behind what I can't tout.

This journey, a ceaseless flight,
Always on the move, never still,
Learning, grasping, sometimes falling,
Yet never breaking, against my will.

A resilient soul, jetsetting through,
In this grand theatre of life,
With blessings of my parents
And God on my side,
Each takeoff, a new adventure
With hope and courage as my guide..
Smiling, as I get Boarded
Always ready to take off...

Holi Ka Dahan: Igniting the Flames of Tradition and Unity, Burning Away Negativity...

Holi Ka Dahan: Igniting the Flames of Tradition and Unity, Burning Away Negativity...

The night had set in and the moon shone brightly in the clouded sky. A mild breeze was blowing as I stepped out to take a stroll. Whiffs of air brought a fragrance of  flowers from a nearby garden. On my way home I stopped at a nearby temple of Lord Ganesh.
Usually the temple was quiet except for occasions like Chathurthis but today I could see a big crowd. As I looked around, I found that preparations for 'Holika Dahan' were in progress.
I stayed back after my circumambulations to the Vignaharta, Ganesha. I didn't want to lose this opportunity of participating in a traditional celebration of Holika Dahan which I was going to see after many years. The last I remember watching Holika Dahan was probably when my son was seven or eight years of age.
As I waited for the dahan, I thought about our childhood and the Holi  celebrations at our home in the Railway Colony at Bhusawal.
Among a multitude of festivals in  India, Holi stands out not only because it is a vibrant celebration of colours,  joy and camaraderie but also due to the fact that prior to splashes of colours, there's a more profound ritual—the sacred bonfire or 'Holi Ka Dahan'.
This age-old tradition, steeped in symbolism serves as a philosophical prelude to the colorful festivities of Holi.
It is not just a celebratory act but signifies the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, and positivity over negativity.
Prahlad, a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu was hated by his own father Hiranyakashipu, a non-believer more so because  he had  challenged the tyranny of his father. He therefore made several attempts to kill his son. Once he  along with Prahalad's aunt, Holika who had been gifted with a boon of immunity to fire hatched a conspiracy to burn him by tying him to his aunt and burning them on a pyre.
Prahlad's belief in Lord Vishnu left him unscathed while burning away Holika despite her boon of immunity. This legendary story  symbolizes the fact that  positivity in the heart and mind is shielded by God with his loving touch and can never be burnt as  ultimately it is the good which triumphs over evil.
Secondly, the bonfire represents the burning of the impurities in our minds and body by burning away negative thoughts and energies, ignorance and ego paving the way for self- enlightenment.
Holi Ka Dahan also gives us lessons in connecting communities as  people gather around the bonfire, pray, sing and dance, reinforcing social bonds, spreading joy, fostering unity and harmony
The Fire too symbolizes enlightenment of devotees who light the bonfire and  welcome light and warmth into their lives.
Amidst the crackling flames of Holi Ka Dahan I found myself introspecting on the significance of this festival where one can confront their inner fears, and prejudices, and embrace the light of self-awareness and  transform oneself by shedding negativity.
It was an apt reminder for people to rekindle the flames of compassion, forgiveness, and understanding. For in the glow of Holi Ka Dahan, one would not only find the promise of a new beginning but also the timeless wisdom of unity, resilience, and hope.
It was learning for me too as I felt  the energetic fervour of the holi pyre as it went up in flames. Each circumambulation around the pyre was a step towards discarding of all unwanted burden in my heart and welcoming all colours of life this Holi. Wishing you all a warm, colourful and Happy Holi...

God's Child...

God's child...

In this path of life
Through storms and joys
You stand by me
As my steadfast guide...
My protector,  My confidant,
My friend in need
I know you are by my side
In every deed...
With love and light,
My journey you fill
In my darkest hours
You lead me uphill...
To starry nights
and sun-filled days
Overlooking my flaws
with that loving gaze...
Guiding me whenever I falter
Lifting me whenever I fall...
Perumaal, Thaayaar,
Gracious divine,
Your benevolence
As sweet as nectar
Benign...
Engulfing me
With your constant grace
Lest I lose the righful way...
So as you walk with me
Holding  my hand
Peacefully I will traverse this
Wondrous land...
For you are more than just a friend to me, My God
The essence of Your love,
 Is for Eternity....
I know I am your special child...

Khadi: Not merely a piece of cloth

Khadi: Not merely a piece of cloth

For centuries now Khadi is known as a coarse fabric , worn by leaders and part of India's freedom movement. In that sense it is the Fabric of our  Nation yet Khadi isn't just a fabric; it's a thought,an ideology. Woven into its coarse yet comforting threads are the struggles of a nation yearning for self-reliance, the echoes of Mahatma Gandhi's call for Swadeshi and the spirit of countless craftspeople who breathe life into this handspun marvel.
In a world seduced by the glitz of fast fashion and mass-produced textiles, Khadi stands defiantly apart. Where others chase fleeting trends, Khadi finds its beauty in timelessness. As machines churn out endless yards of identical cloth, Khadi embraces the subtle imperfections born from human touch. Yet Khadi isn't simply a relic of the past. It's a bridge, connecting India's artisanal heritage to its modern aspirations. Sustainable, ethical, and deeply rooted in local communities, Khadi embodies the principles that the world is scrambling to adopt in recent times.
Let's not forget, long before 'eco-friendly' was a buzzword, Khadi's very existence was a sustainable choice.Critics may dismiss Khadi as outdated or simplistic, but that would be missing the point entirely. For fashionistas like Manish Malhotra, Sabyasachi, Ritu Kumar are using them with pride.
Khadi isn't meant to dazzle with fleeting trends. Its quiet elegance is one that deepens with time, much like the nation it represents. It reminds us to look beyond the superficial, to value craftsmanship over consumerism. While supporting Khadi means supporting rural livelihoods and village industries, it means more than just an economic act. To choose Khadi is to make a statement – about individuality in a world of mass production, about mindful consumption, and about an India that honors its roots even as it surges forward into a developed world.
Of course, Khadi faces challenges. It needs innovation in design to appeal to a wider audience, it needs patronage beyond symbolism, and it needs consistent quality control. But these are challenges worth overcoming because what Khadi represents is far too valuable to lose.Let's view Khadi through a new lens – not as a mere product, but as a philosophy. To quote the Hon’ble Prime Minister of our country,  Mr  Narendra Modi, " Khadi for nation, Khadi for fashion Khadi for Transformation. " Khadi also resonates with the Hon’ble Prime Minster's vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat as खादी एक अस्त्र है , खादी एक शस्त्र है !
Let's wear it with pride, understand its significance, and be vocal in our support. Khadi may be spun from cotton, wool or silk but it embodies the struggles, triumphs, and undying spirit of India that give it true strength.
Let's wear Khadi, and wear it boldly and with pride because it's more than just cloth — it's a testament to who we are, and who we strive to be.
